(OCTOBER 21, 2026).-The President announced that federal resources will go to water projects to address the supply crisis in Jalisco. The state government, for its part, is investing around 7.5 billion pesos in a water treatment plant.
The Government of Mexico will allocate between 12 and 13 billion pesos to water works in Jalisco to address the water supply crisis in the state, reported President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
The President explained that the federal government will provide the resources needed to develop the projects, while the state government is investing around 7.5 billion pesos in the construction of a water treatment plant.
“According to what Efraín (Morales, head of Conagua) tells me, it’s around 12 billion, 13 billion pesos,” Sheinbaum said.
The President said that this Wednesday a broader review of the planned investments will take place and alternatives will be analyzed to finance the works without resorting to debt.
The goal, she indicated, is to avoid financial pressures and guarantee federal support for the millions of inhabitants of the Guadalajara metropolitan area.
Sheinbaum emphasized that the work will be carried out in coordination with the Jalisco government to move forward on the actions needed to meet the region’s water supply needs.
The details of the projects and the distribution of the resources will be reviewed during the scheduled meetings between the authorities, as part of the actions to confront the water crisis in the state.
