- Intimidation Through Economics
Media silencing does not always take the form of a government order closing a station.
It can also operate through economic structures.
When social-justice programmes cannot secure sustainable funding, their independence and continuity become vulnerable.
When journalists cannot secure institutional protection, their ability to pursue difficult stories becomes constrained.
When public-interest programmes disappear because they are considered financially unsustainable, communities lose platforms through which they can speak
