Peskov rejects Estonian accusations that Moscow was involved in a fire at a company producing military drones.

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Europe is waging a war against Russia by supplying weapons to Ukraine.

“If you admit that your weapons are being used against us and we are shooting these weapons down, you may call it whatever you like. However, I have no doubt that this is a war that Europe is waging against us. We have been talking about this for a long time,” Lavrov said in response to a Western journalist.

Regarding plans to produce Patriot missiles in Poland, he recommended that interested parties carefully analyze what that proposal implies for Russian military doctrine. The Russian diplomat also reaffirmed that his country would continue eliminating existential threats coming from Ukraine.

“If you are talking about the destruction of infrastructure used by the Nazi regime, with Western support, to wage war against Russia, then we resort to brute force to suppress this direct threat to us,” he said.

Lavrov made these statements to reporters on the sidelines of the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club, a Moscow-based international forum that brings together global experts, historians, journalists and policymakers to discuss Russian foreign and domestic policy.

At the same meeting, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman and former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said current European leaders are “short-sighted Russophobes” who are doing “everything possible” to drag their countries into a war with Russia. “And the chances that the world will be dragged into a new conflict are the greatest since 1945,” he said.

Russia Rejects Accusations Over Attack On Estonian Factory

At the beginning of September, Lavrov accused Germany of starting a “real war” against Russia because of Berlin’s reaction to Moscow’s alleged involvement in the incident involving a drone at Leipzig airport.

For several weeks, Russian authorities have been alleging that Europe is preparing to unleash a war with Russia, while denying that Moscow has aggressive plans toward Western countries.

On Tuesday, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov described as “unfounded, gratuitous and completely unrealistic” accusations by Estonian authorities alleging his country’s involvement in a fire at a company that manufactures military ground drones for Ukraine.

Previously, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal said Russian intelligence services were behind an arson attack at the Milrem defense company on the night of Aug. 15.

“The sabotage is part of a broader Russian campaign in Europe, aimed at intimidating us and forcing us to reduce our support for Ukraine and the pressure on Russia,” he said.

Three Lithuanian citizens suspected of starting the fire were arrested in Latvia between Aug. 17 and 18. A month later, they were extradited to Estonia.
