Managua, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) The international television network Russia Today (RT en Espanol) has begun free-to-air broadcasting in Nicaragua via UHF channel 31, Co-President Rosario Murillo announced. During her daily address, the official noted that this marks the first stage of the network's free-to-air broadcasts, with coverage set to gradually expand to the country's various departments in the coming months.

The launch of the free-to-air signal in Nicaragua complements its availability through cable television providers, a delivery method through which RT en Espanol was already accessible to part of the national audience.

RT en Espanol was established in 2005 in Moscow, Russia, while its Spanish-language service began broadcasting in December 2009.

The channel, which has a significant presence in Latin America and other continents, provides news coverage on politics, economy, culture, and global social events, positioning itself as an alternative to major hegemonic media outlets.
