Dr. Abdul El-Sayed is the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan. In August, he won the state’s primary despite being outspent approximately 10 to 1. If elected, he will be the first Muslim senator in U.S. history. Years ago, Dr. El-Sayed contributed several articles and YouTube videos to this magazine, which means that his election would mark another milestone: the first former Current Affairs contributor to serve in the U.S. Senate. We recently caught up with Dr. El-Sayed after his remarkable victory, to discuss some of the most pressing issues in American politics.
