Iran says the US is responsible for complete cessation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

This seems like a really really risky play. The general speculation is that they’re banking on Israel blowing the deal (gee that’s a longshot) letting them get even more leverage over trump to end the war by making this his problem to get Israel to actually stop things.
I kinda don’t think that’s going to work if true though; trump is either gonna dip on IS and let them figure it out with Iran, or he’s gonna flip and double down on the bombing, possibly even go “see they dont want peace” if Iran attacks US targets in retaliation for an Israeli strike and then commit actual troops instead of precision strikes. Either way it seems like this shit isn’t over yet…
Risky…but smart. The US is really the only country with the ability to put a leash on Israel. If they can get Trump to turn on Netanyahu, they will have done the entire region (and the world) a massive favor.
IDK, history would suggest any plan that hinges on trump behaving predictably, let alone rationally, isn’t a particularly smart plan. The potential reward is there ($300 Bil and tolls for the strait + leased israel), but the Iranian victory thus far has largely capitalized on Trump’s unwillingness to commit US troops to actually achieving his goals, instead going full Bomber Command with precision strikes. If they play this wrong, an actual commitment of forces by the US would be disastrous for Iran, even if it does result in an ultimate Iranian victory.
