These stories have woke me to some things.

food assistance for 42 million Americans

That is a shitload of people. Had no idea.

SNAP benefits are available to people whose monthly incomes fall below 130% of the federal poverty line.

Living in poverty is not low enough I guess.

For 2025, the poverty guideline for a single person in the contiguous U.S. is an annual income of $15,650, while for a family of four, it is $32,150

How it is possible this country is so poor?!

It gets worse. In “socialist” Canada if you make 30k CAD (21350 USD) your effective income tax rate federal + provincial will be around 8%. In US federal income tax alone will be about 11%. Lower taxes include free health care…

I’m well aware, just didn’t know 13% of Americans were on SNAP. I’ve got food stamps twice in life and had to be completely unemployed. The federal poverty line sounds like numbers from 20-years ago.

I’m not ignorant to corporate socialism, was ignorant as to how many people it affects. We should be fucking rioting in the streets.

Uhh, that means you can earn up to 30% more than the poverty line and still be eligible. I think you got something mixed up.
