The bill was approved in a preliminary reading in March 2023 and passed its first official reading in the Knesset in November 2025. It requires another two readings to be passed into law. Executions will apply only to Palestinians who kill or attempt to kill Israelis, and not to Israeli soldiers or settlers responsible for war crimes.
