Nick Fuentes has become increasingly influential in the past few years. While his job is literally causing controversy, not all controversy will benefit him, as seems to be the case here with Epstein:

Nick Fuentes claims Jeffrey Epstein’s international trafficking operation should not be labeled “pedophilia,” because it did not involve very young children.

He says the victims were “barely legal” teenagers.

If you don’t know who Alan Dershowitz is, by the way, he’s a former associate of Jeffrey Epstein. He’s also a lawyer who enthusiastically specialises in defending rapists.

First Epstein, now Hitler

Despite being an hispanic virgin who loves Hitler, Fuentes has managed to make himself relevant on the US right by attracting an audience which is big enough to intimidate his peers:

Nazism was in part a RESPONSE to the global communist revolution being fomented by Stalin.

And Hitler prevented the Soviet Union from invading all of Europe and inflicting rape, famine, and genocide.

While there are claims his audience is heavily botted, the pressure he can put on other creators and commentators is real either way. This is why they treat him as a serious figure:

Fuentes and his followers are notable for opposing unconditional support for Israel. Fuentes isn’t the only one on the right with this opinion, with the rift becoming apparent at last year’s Turning Point USA conference, when a procession of speakers took turns bullying the Zionist Ben Shapiro:

While opposing unconditional support for Israel is good, it’s probably not hard to work out that the Hitler-loving Fuentes has different motives to pro-Palestinians. The fact that Fuentes holds these beliefs makes his defence of Epstein especially confusing, as the dead paedophile was a prominent supporter of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). It’s also believed he was linked to US and Israeli intelligence.

This is what Fuentes said about Epstein:

The only way of reading this is that while Fuentes is ardently antisemitic, he will make an exception for any Jewish person who can commit industrialised sex crimes.

While Fuentes claims ‘Epstein wasn’t a paedophile’, that’s out of step with what we’ve been told. Specifically, the Department of Justice claim that Epstein possessed a substantial collection of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), referred to here as “child porn”:

They can’t release files showing the victims, which is the reason for the delay.

When Fuentes says ‘Epstein wasn’t a paedophile’, he’s referencing the following clinical definitions:

• Paedophilia (interest in pre-pubescent children).
• Hebephilia (interest in early-pubescent children).
• Ephebophilia (interest in mid- to late-teens).

As stated, these are clinical definitions. For the purposes of normal, every day discourse, it’s standard to refer to anyone who molests children of any age as simply a ‘paedophile’. If anything, it’s preferable to do that, because it makes it clear to everyone that touching kids of any age is equally bad, and will result in exactly the same social and criminal consequences.

Let them fight

Some figures on the right have criticised Fuentes’ latest comments, but it’s worth bearing in mind that a lot of these people already hate each other:

At this point, it’s unclear what sort of audience Fuentes wants to attract. One thing is obvious, though; it’s becoming clear why he may need to use bots.
