In a letter signed by its president, Hem Chanly, and released to the public this Saturday, the ACGC stated that Cuba is not alone and enjoys the solidarity and support of many peoples around the world, including those of Cambodia.
The association further noted that US hostility, which has persisted for over 60 years, is compounded by an unjust energy blockade and unilateral coercive measures.
“Let us remain united in supporting the Cuban people in their struggle for sovereignty, dignity, and justice,” the letter stated. It also highlighted the overwhelming support within the United Nations General Assembly for the resolution calling for an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by Washington.
“We reject any action that undermines the sovereignty, independence, and self-determination of Cuba,” the association emphasized, adding that it joins the majority of the international community in maintaining firm support for the Cuban nation—as was demonstrated on October 28, when 130 nations voted in its favor.
“As graduates from Cuba, we reaffirm our deep gratitude for the education we received, as well as our commitment to defending the sovereignty, independence, and the right of the Cuban people to determine their own destiny,” the statement affirmed.
“The Cuban people,” it continued, “do not—and in no way—constitute a threat to any nation in the world; they deserve respect, solidarity, and the right to live in peace, free from external interference or pressure.”
