A CONSULTATION process has begun at the University of Sunderland involving the University and College Union and Unison amid 188 jobs at risk of redundancy.
Staff at the university declared a formal industrial dispute last month amid the university’s plans to operate “on a budget that costs £40 million less than it does currently,” involving cuts in both staff and non-staff costs.
The unions met with the university on Wednesday, with further weekly meetings expected as the parties commit to working together.
