In a statement, the Foreign Ministry questioned the document’s assessments on political standards, the judicial system, and fundamental rights, arguing that they are groundless and reveal contradictions in the European position.
The Ministry also criticized the report for, in its view, supporting positions by Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration, which it described as incompatible with international law, unrealistic, and exaggerated.
In Ankara’s view, the document ignores the legitimate rights and interests of Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as opinions on the Cyprus issue.
The Foreign Ministry stated that the European Union (EU) cannot contribute to efforts to resolve this conflict as long as it unconditionally adopts the Greek Cypriot position.
