Mexico City. Mexico’s exports to the United States totaled US$62.2 billion in September, the highest level on record, according to data from the US Department of Commerce’s Census Bureau.
With that result, Mexican sales strung together five consecutive months of growth and posted a 40 percent annual increase.

The amount equals 17.6 percent of total US imports for the month. Canada accounted for 9.9 percent of those purchases, China 8.9 percent and Vietnam 8.1 percent, which kept Mexico ahead of all three suppliers.
The difference with Canada, which ranked second among suppliers in September, was 7.7 percentage points. The gap with China was 8.7 points and with Vietnam 9.5 points, according to the percentages published by the Census Bureau.
September was the third month of 2026 in which Mexican shipments exceeded US$60 billion. The figures reflect the trade integration between both countries and came despite the uncertainty surrounding the USMCA review.
The 40 percent annual growth in September doubles the 20 percent that Mexican exports have accumulated from January to September. In that period, the gap with Canada in market share is 6.4 percentage points, since the northern neighbor has 11 percent.
Of all Mexican goods that entered US territory in September, 83 percent did so under the treaty’s preferences, and therefore did not pay the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. That condition sustains Mexico’s competitiveness against other international suppliers.
From January to September, Mexico’s exports to the United States reached US$481.6 billion, an annual increase of 20 percent and the highest level for a comparable period. September’s sales equal about 13 percent of that cumulative total.
With this, the country kept first place among Washington’s trading partners, with a 17.4 percent share, followed by Canada with 11 percent and Taiwan with 7.8 percent.
