The event will take place as part of the 47th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema and is establishing itself as a hub connecting the world of cinema, technology, and new audiences.
According to the announcement released by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), the program features a “Market & Content Circulation Zone,” which includes screenings, pitch sessions, panels, and business negotiation meetings.
The agenda also includes a “Technology Fair”—focused on VR/AR/XR, creative artificial intelligence, digital accessibility, and demonstrations of prototypes and services—as well as “Cuba: Film Destination,” a showcase of filming locations and technical services, and a “Networking Area” featuring collaboration sessions and service pitches.
Additionally, there is an “Interactive Zone,” which includes virtual reality stations, immersive installations, and narrative-driven video games.
The call is open to both Cubans and international participants, who may register for the event until November 23, in accordance with the participation categories and pricing structures established by the organizers.
Benefits of participation include access to international distribution and co-production networks, visibility at one of Latin America’s most prestigious film festivals, and the opportunity to forge partnerships with production companies, streaming platforms, institutions, and technology firms.
Another key advantage of MECLA-Isla Abierta is the opportunity to become part of an innovation hub that bridges cinema, technology, and new audiences.
