Athens will become a meeting point for young communists from across Europe on November 14–15, as the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) hosts the 20th Meeting of European Communist Youth Organisations (MECYO).
Twenty organizations from 17 countries will participate, reaffirming their determination to strengthen the common struggle against imperialist wars, capitalist exploitation and the system that breeds them.
The meeting will take place under the slogan:
“We continue the struggle against imperialist wars, poverty, exploitation and the system that breeds them. Solidarity with the peoples in struggle!”
Established in 2000 on the initiative of KNE, the Meeting of European Communist Youth Organisations has developed into an important forum for exchanging experiences, drawing conclusions from youth struggles and strengthening cooperation among communist youth organizations across Europe.
This year’s gathering takes place amid escalating imperialist rivalries, expanding military preparations and the growing involvement of European states in wars and conflicts.
Against this background, the participating organizations will discuss the struggle against their countries’ involvement in imperialist wars, the defense of young people’s rights and the necessity of fighting for a society free from exploitation and war: socialism–communism.
