The changes affected Brevard, Highlands, Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties.

On Tuesday, Florida election officials urgently relocated 18 polling places just hours before the start of the midterm elections due to flooding affecting several areas of the state.

The Secretary of State’s office announced the decision only 45 minutes before the polls were set to open, with the goal of ensuring the safety of voters and election workers.

The changes affected Brevard, Highlands, Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties, where some damaged polling places were relocated or merged with other operational locations.

Local officials indicated that the flooding made it impossible for certain facilities to operate normally, requiring exceptional measures to mitigate risks on election day.

The Brevard County election supervisor explained that relocating several polling places was essential to protect the safety of citizens and election personnel. The relocation came after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in counties affected by heavy rains and flooding.

The changes were made under state law, which allows for last-minute modifications in extraordinary situations when conditions prevent compliance with standard notification procedures.

Americans went to the polls to elect all 435 members of the House of Representatives, 35 senators, and 36 state governors in an election considered crucial for the political balance in Washington.

Brevard here, this flooding destroyed some major roads flooded tons of neighborhoods, some of which some of the polling locations were probably in.

Not sure if mother nature is MAGA or not, considering this county is intensely MAGA, but not cool of her trying to interfere with the election. (I kid, I kid, fuck the MAGAs and that’s why I voted on day 1 of early voting)
