The deployment will cover the villages of Sassoro (in the municipality of Tacuru), Taquapery (in Coronel Sapucaia), and Limao Verde (in Amambai), reported the news portal Brasil 247.
The security personnel will remain in these locations for an indefinite period, announced the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Wellington Cesar Lima e Silva.
One of the developments that sparked concern was the circulation of audio recordings in messaging groups, containing explicit threats to poison the water consumed by Indigenous people.
One of the recordings, released by the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB), includes statements inciting the killing of the inhabitants of these communities.
The Federal Police are investigating the allegations and have already questioned two suspects, stated the Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Eloy Terena.
According to the aforementioned media source, the National Force operation will incorporate a protocol known as “Minute-by-Minute,” which will keep agents stationed in the affected areas and allow for their rapid mobilization in the event of any incident involving signs of criminal activity or serious threats.
These events are taking place in a region marked by territorial disputes that particularly affect Guarani and Kaiowa communities, whose demands for the recognition of their traditional lands remain a source of ongoing conflict.
