CARE workers at council-owned MioCare started a 48-hour walkout on Friday in the third round of strikes since September in their dispute over wages and sick pay.

They work in extra care, providing personalised support within assisted housing complexes and are demanding to be paid the same as care workers in other parts of MioCare. Despite performing similar duties, union Unison says some workers are earning £2.10 an hour less than their colleagues.
