Directed by Rolando Almirante, Hector Villar, and Angel Alderete, the documentary is part of the festival’s competitive program, with a screening held on October 31 at the Sala Gregorianum in Milan.

The work is part of the official selection for *Sport Movies & TV 2026*, an event that brings together audiovisual productions from various countries and serves as the final stage of the international *World FICTS Challenge* circuit.

The 80-minute film explores the athletic and personal journey of the Cuban wrestler, who achieved a historic feat by winning his fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal at the Paris 2024 Games.

Through footage of his training sessions, testimonials from family members and peers, and glimpses of his hometown—Herradura, in the province of Pinar del Río—the film highlights the personal and athletic circumstances that shaped the athlete’s preparation for his final Olympic triumph.

The documentary, released in 2025, is a co-production between the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) and the independent production company D’Alma Films Producciones. It has previously been screened at the Havana Film Festival (Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano), the BRICS+ International Film Festival in Saint Petersburg (Russia), as well as in Paris (France) and Rome (Italy).

According to the event organizers, the program features documentaries, feature films, reports, and other works centered on sports, the figures behind them, and their broader social and cultural significance.

Mijaín’s presence on this significant international platform represents an opportunity to promote Cuban cinema and to share one of the most notable chapters in the island’s sports history.
