The prosecutor Gregorio Eljach rejected “with total forcefulness” the attack perpetrated with a motorcycle bomb.
According to preliminary information, the explosive device was found on Friday night near a commercial establishment in the pink zone of Algeciras.
While a police patrol was inspecting the area around midnight, the motorcycle bomb exploded, causing damage to the people who were nearby.
“All our solidarity with the Colombian Police, with the family of the deceased uniformed officer and with the families of the six injured left by this attack,” said the Attorney General’s Office on its X account.
The entity demanded that the corresponding authorities “act with maximum speed to find those responsible and guarantee the security of the population in northern Huila.”

“Terrorism cannot continue to intimidate Colombians,” he emphasized. In August, two soldiers died after an ambush in a rural area of Algeciras when they went to inspect a cylinder loaded with explosives.
For this reason, the Army announced then that it would intensify operations against the dissidents who are committing crimes in the area, among them the Central General Staff (EMC), the largest of these organizations, which is under the command of Néstor Gregorio Vera, alias Iván Mordisco, the most wanted man in the country.
The far-right Colombian president Abelardo de la Espriella published in X a text strongly condemning the attack in Algeciras expressing his condolences to the family of the patrol boat and wishing prompt recovery to the injured.
De la Espriella says that he undertakes to pursue the responsible until they are brought to justice, stating that there will be no refuge for those who threaten public safety and the tranquility of Colombians, and says that the patrol officer Castaño López’ sacrifice will not be forgotten.
