In a post on X, Ghalibaf stated that Iran has repeatedly conveyed its demands to the United States through intermediaries, though he did not specify their content.

The Parliament speaker underscored that reaching an understanding on those conditions is a prerequisite for advancing any negotiation process between the two countries, amid bilateral tensions and disagreements concerning regional maritime security.

The Washington-Tehran talks remain at a standstill following strikes launched by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory on February 28, to which Iran responded with actions against targets in Israel and US sites in the region.

On June 18, both countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

However, its implementation remains stalled amid disagreements concerning the security of this maritime route, which is strategic for global energy trade.
