Israeli settlers attacked journalist and activist Andrey Khrzhanovskiy along with two of his colleagues in the Palestinian village of Umm al-Khair on Wednesday. Khrzhanovskiy, known professionally as Andrey X, lost consciousness and suffered a concussion during the assault, according to freelance reporter Adele Shoko, who was also attacked by the settlers and sustained an injury to her arm. “Andrey was severely beaten and lost consciousness several times in front of police,” Shoko wrote on social media. “Despite this, he was denied hospital treatment. He was put in an ambulance – but instead of being taken to hospital, he was taken to a police station.” US journalist Jasper Nathaniel was also beaten “then pepper-sprayed and arrested”, she said. Khrzhanovskiy and Nathaniel have been released but are “banned from the West Bank for 60 days”, Shoko added. The Committee to Protect Journalists has condemned the attack.
