McDonald’s workers in Brazil celebrated new rules that cut the work week from six days to a maximum of five – without a reduction in pay. Employee Luis Felippe posted a TikTok video of himself reading out an official communication on the changes, the initial phase of which goes into effect on 16 December. The reform was a key pledge from president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who managed to get it passed shortly before Sunday’s election, which he won despite coming second in the first round of voting.
