Thirteen European Communist Youth organizations have issued a joint statement saluting the mobilizations of school students, university students and workers currently taking place in several European countries and expressing their solidarity with the worldwide dockworkers’ mobilization on October 30.

The full text of the statement reads as follows:

“The Communist Youth organizations signing this statement salute the tremendous mobilizations of school students, university students and young workers that have taken place in France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Albania and other European countries in recent weeks, fighting for education, work and a life that meets the possibilities offered by the 21st century. The great waves of young people surging through the streets of Europe are creating images of optimism and hope. They demonstrate that the organized people, through their struggle, can leave their mark on developments.

We denounce the repression unleashed by the bourgeois states, resulting in injuries to demonstrators, including school students, thousands of arrests, and attempts to slander these struggles. It is once again confirmed that anti-people policies are necessarily accompanied by repression, alongside efforts to manipulate the people.

We, the young communists, stand on the front line of this struggle, highlighting that the causes driving young people into the streets are common. They lie in the EU of monopolies and war preparations, which allocates billions to military armaments and to boosting the profits of business groups in their competition with rival centers, while treating the needs of the people and youth as ‘wasteful’ and a ‘cost’. They lie in the system of exploitation and class barriers, which sacrifices the needs of workers, young people and working-class families every day in the interests of a handful of capitalists.

We express our solidarity with the great international dockworkers’ strike on October 30, involving more than 100 ports across four continents, which will mark a major milestone in the tremendous struggles currently unfolding. We support their struggle for ports that serve the peoples and peace, rather than acting as launching pads for imperialist aggression. The dockworkers are showing the way forward through solidarity and the common struggle of the peoples — the only force capable of placing real obstacles in the path of the plans of the bourgeois classes, imperialist alliances and their command centers.

We carry on! We strengthen our struggle throughout Europe against our common enemy, capitalism. For the younger generation to live the lives it truly deserves, there is only one path: the struggle to overthrow the source of the dead ends we face — the capitalist system. We fight for a socialist-communist society, the only society that can truly place our lives at the center by abolishing the exploitation of human beings by other human beings.

Across Europe, we are making history!

Money for our needs, not for the slaughterhouses of war!”.

The joint statement is signed by the following Communist Youth organizations: Youth Front of the Party of Labour of Austria (Austria), Union of Communist Youth (France), Swiss Communist Youth (Switzerland), Communist Youth of Greece (Greece), Connolly Youth Movement (Ireland), Workers’ Party Youth (Ireland), Collectives of Young Communists (Spain), Front of the Communist Youth (Italy), Communist Youth Movement (Netherlands), Revolutionary Communist Youth League (Bolsheviks) (Russia), Communist Youth of Sweden (Sweden), Communist Youth of Turkey (Turkey), and Communist Youth of the Communist Workers’ Party of Finland (Finland).
