The Transformation Strengthens the IMSS and Its WorkersPresident Claudia Sheinbaum announced a 120-day action plan involving almost 11.75 billion pesos (US$628.40 million) for an 8% pay raise for the Mexican Social Security Institute’s (IMSS) 504,000 workers—the largest in 20 years—along with legalizing the employment status of 10,939 full time employees and 2,500 medical specialists.
Every Peso of the INE Belongs to the People and Must Be Accounted for Transparently“Everything must be made public; it must be transparent,” the President stated as she demanded audits of the National Electoral Institute (INE), without it being limited to the past year. Sheinbaum questioned why the INE receives 22 billion pesos in non-election years (US$1.18 billion) and 35 billion pesos (US$1.61 billion) in election years, and called for irregularities to be clarified.
Open Dialogue, Without Privileges or Political Pressure“The dialogue roundtable has been open for months,” Sheinbaum stated, questioning the truck drivers of the National Chamber of Freight Cargo (Canacar) blockading highways and its previous meeting with PRI president Alejandro Moreno.
Charlyn Corral, the Pride of Mexican SoccerThe President congratulated Charlyn Corral on winning the Ballon d’Or for best forward, expressed her pleasure at the athlete’s recognition, and highlighted her remarks on the growth of women’s soccer in Mexico.
