AMBER weather warnings came into force today after two named storms battered the country.

The worst of Storm Boelo hit parts of Britain hours after Storm Austen, the first named storm of the season.

The Met Office said gusts of 60-70mph affected areas in the warning zone, including Scotland and the far north of England, with more than 80mph in exposed coastal spots.

Tiree in the Inner Hebrides recorded 82mph winds at about 4am.
