The national leader of Morena, Ariadna Montiel, “categorically” rejected the “baseless” accusations that the governor of Chihuahua, the PAN politician María Eugenia Campos, made against her about alleged ties to organized crime, and demanded that, if she has evidence, she present it to the competent authorities.
“I will not allow baseless accusations or slander to cast doubt on my career and honesty. The only thing they seek is to distract attention from what is truly important: you and your government have violated national sovereignty,” she replied to Campos, who in an interview claimed that the former Secretary of Well-Being has ties to drug trafficking.
She described the PAN politician as a “mythomaniac,” as acting “in a cowardly manner” and as conducting herself with disloyalty toward the country, toward the people of Chihuahua and even toward those close to her.
Whoever betrays the homeland and their friends will end up betraying everyone.

She said she is proud that “a person like María Eugenia Campos points at me, because that puts me on the other side of what she is and represents: corruption, privilege, disloyalty. That is what characterizes her.” She added that Chihuahua and all of Mexico “deserve to know what role US CIA agents played in an operation carried out on national territory, who authorized their participation and who is the person responsible for the violation of our sovereignty.”
Instead, she said, she always goes “with her head held high, on the side of the people and of those who have the least.” She maintained that she has worked to lift out of poverty thousands of people of Chihuahua who had lived in abandonment, especially the Rarámuri people, “whom their governor despises.”
Paragraphs later, the president of Morena stressed: “Chihuahua has a beautiful, brave, noble and loyal people. It’s a pity it has a governor totally different from those values of the people of Chihuahua: she is the opposite of her people, she acts cowardly, she is a mythomaniac and she conducts herself with great disloyalty toward those she governs, toward the homeland and even toward her friends.”
To conclude, she stated: “We will resist the onslaughts of rancid PAN-ism and its government in Chihuahua and, of course, the transformation will soon arrive in Chihuahua, because its people and its folks deserve a government worthy of its magnificent people.”
