Mexico City. Confirming that she held a tense conversation with the governor of Chihuahua, María Eugenia Campos, President Claudia Sheinbaum revealed that in that talk the PAN politician denounced that the state’s former Attorney General of Justice, César Jáuregui, was involved in acts of corruption and was the owner of casinos. In light of those accusations, Sheinbaum said, she urged her to file the corresponding complaints.
At her press conference, the president acknowledged that Campos reproached her for having accused her of treason, to which, Sheinbaum commented, she replied that she had spoken about how the Chihuahua authorities had allowed foreign agents to participate in operations in Mexico. She denied having questioned Campos over the relationship with the United States having become complicated because of these state actions.
Asked directly about the exchange over who was responsible for the participation of foreign agents in the Chihuahua operation, Campos answered Sheinbaum, the president said:
It wasn’t me, it was the prosecutor.
María Eugenia Campos, according to President Sheinbaum
The President said she had suggested to her that, given this knowledge of irregularities detected regarding Jáuregui, she could meet with the Attorney General of the Republic, Ernestina Godoy, to make this situation known to her, after which there was a meeting between Campos and Godoy.

At her press conference, she recalled that her presence in Chihuahua was due to her touring the country’s 32 states to deliver her government report throughout the country. Prior to this, Campos formally requested a private meeting, for which reason Sheinbaum agreed to a meeting at the Ciudad Juárez airport. Sheinbaum admitted that it was not a meeting between friends, but between the president and the governor.
At the end of the meeting, Campos asked her what the terms of the relationship would be going forward, to which she replied that it would be an institutional relationship between both levels of government.
