Mexico City. President Claudia Sheinbaum rejected claims that the arrest of the former attorney general of Chihuahua, César Jáuregui, was because he was trying to dismantle a narco laboratory.

She fired back at the National Action Party (PAN), pointing out that when there was collusion between the government and organized crime, it was under the PAN governments, when the link between the Secretary of Public Security (Genaro García Luna) and criminal organizations was recorded.

Refuting the PAN’s accusations, she asserted that we would not have the results we have, a reduction of more than 50 percent in intentional homicides, if there were any collusion with any criminal group:

We do not, under any circumstances, establish perverse relationships with any criminal group or with white-collar criminals.

President Claudia Sheinbaum

After once again showing the evolution of homicides in Mexico, whose upward trend was cut during the previous administration, she stressed that “this view falls apart on its own, very absurd.”

She asserted that the most serious aspect of the operation carried out in Chihuahua was the participation of agents of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), who were also armed in a nighttime deployment that resulted in the death of two agents of that organization.
