In a Wednesday press conference, Cuba’s foreign minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla accused the US of pressuring and threatening multiple UN member states to shift their votes on the upcoming October 28 UN resolution condemning the blockade. Cuban officials have alleged these tactics include tariff impositions, suspension of cooperation programs, visa denials for officials and their relatives, and backing for opposition groups. Rodríguez Parrilla further cautioned that the US blockade the US could be replicated against another nation. “What is happening to Cuba today could happen to any state tomorrow,” he warned. Rodríguez Parrilla called Washington to “listen to taxpayers” instead of a “small and corrupt group” based in Florida who profits from suffering in Cuba.
