According to the report, the drug will be marketed in Russia under the name Nimolancim; its registration expands the scope of targeted therapy within Russian oncological practice.

Nimotuzumab is indicated for use in adult patients only. Its clinical efficacy has been confirmed by international studies involving patients with various malignant tumors, demonstrating that its use in combination with standard anti-tumor therapy improves patient prognosis.

Nimotuzumab is a humanized therapeutic monoclonal antibody that targets the epidermal growth factor receptor. Focusing on this receptor serves as a strategy for targeted therapy against malignant tumors.

Its production is part of a collaboration between Cuba’s Center of Molecular Immunology and a Russian company, which will be responsible for secondary packaging and final quality control.

The report notes that, in May, Cuba announced the creation of a new vaccine, HEBERSaVax, designed to treat various malignant tumors through active immunotherapy, which also increases the life expectancy of cancer patients.

This new vaccine joins an extensive arsenal developed by Cuban scientists over the years, such as the vaccines CIMAvax-EGF and Vaxira.

Developed by the Center of Molecular Immunology in Havana, both have demonstrated improved survival rates in patients with non-small cell lung cancer during clinical trials and are currently in use not only on the island but also in several countries across Latin America and Europe.
