JOHN SWINNEY must honour Nicola Sturgeon’s “legacy” and come out against new oil and gas, say Scottish Greens.

The party’s shadow cabinet secretary for climate action Mark Ruskell made the demand on Scotland’s First Minister amid reports that the British government is just days away from greenlighting the Jackdaw gas field.

Mr Swinney has remained coy on his government’s attitude to both Jackdaw and the massive Rosebank oil field, already a shift from the “presumption-against” position held by Ms Sturgeon during her coalition with the Greens.
