ANDY BURNHAM has been urged to launch an inquiry into the unequal health impacts of air pollution, as lower-income areas have persistently higher levels than wealthier areas.

A letter from 150 scientists, MPs and activists, co-ordinated by the charity Enact Equality and signed by Greta Thunberg, calls for action following research by the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

The research found minority-ethnic populations were exposed to air pollution levels about 6 per cent higher than those experienced by white populations.
