3 Polls Shows Tie in Brazilian Election w/ 1st Debate Set for Sunday

Quick update: two more polls were released today, and they show the race is essentially tied with the first debate set for Sunday. The election here is only 9 days away.

A new PoderData poll shows Lula and Bolsonaro tied. Yet another poll released by Real Big Time Data shows that Bolsonaro is only leading by 1%. A third poll by CNT and MDA shows that Bolsonaro at 50.5% while Lula has 49.5%

At this point, the election is a turnout game and Lula has the boots in the streets while Bolsonaro is losing momentum and getting hit with various new scandals emerging.

Even Bolsonaro’s top lieutenants in Congress say they are worried about the effect that massive street protests are having on public opinion. Just watch this video of the energy in the streets of Rio de Janeiro.

Lula’s late surge in the polls even helped create the momentum for the Brazilian Congress to pass a bill to shorten the Brazilian workweek from 6 to 5 days, a 40-year goal of the Workers’ Party.

On Sunday, Lula and Bolsonaro will meet in the first debate as new scandals show Bolsonaro’s involvement in Banco Master scandal, the largest banking scandal in Brazilian history. Lula is a notoriously fierce debater while Bolsonaro has often struggling.

A comeback is brewing here in Brasil and it needs international attention. Its an inspiring story that when that we need to hear in the United States. Donate to help us fight back.
