On 9 October a dynamic and mass mobilization took place in Elefsina following a call by the North-West Attica organisations of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its youth wing, KNE, giving a militant response to the attack by fascists in the town against an athlete for his anti-fascist action. The workers and youth of the area sent a clear message that there is no place for fascists or their poison in the working-class neighbourhoods of Elefsina or anywhere else.
The 32-year-old athlete’s family were present at the rally. Also in attendance were Nikos Ambatielos, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and MP of the KKE; and Christos Tsokanis, MP of the KKE for West Attica. Giorgos Tatsis, a member of the KKE Central Committee and a regional councillor of Attica with the “People’s Rallying”, was also present.
