THE minicab drivers’ union called on London Mayor Sadiq Khan to halt the rollout of driverless cars today after a report highlighted a threat to jobs, congestion targets and public ownership of the transport system.The London Assembly’s transport committee found that automated vehicles (AVs) could cause more than 100,000 job losses and raised concerns that the mayor’s goals of reducing car use and congestion, improving safety and increasing public transport use could suffer.
