
Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, arrived in Rome, Italy, to participate in the 2026 World Food Forum. He is leading the Venezuelan delegation to this event, which will take place at FAO headquarters until 16 October.
The President was received by Director Máximo Torero, FAO Chief Economist and coordinator of the Forum; by Venezuela the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Italian Republic, Maria Elena Uzzo, and the ambassador and permanent representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the FAO, Marilyn Di Luca.
“We are here participating in the World Food Forum, highlighting the importance that Venezuela places on food as a fundamental human right, emphasizing the relevance of agro-productive processes that must be responsible with regard to nature in all countries of the world,” explained the Head of State.

Along Rodriguez a high level delegation will also attend to the summit: Miguel Pérez Pirela the sectoral vice president of Communication and Culture and Minister of Communication and Information, Félix Plasencia the Foreign Affairs minister, and the Minister of Popular Power for Food, Major General Carlos Leal Tellería.
Also, the delegation includes the Minister of the Presidency and Monitoring of Government Management, Juan Escalona, the FM deputy minister of the for Foreign Affairs and International Trade and deputy minister for Europe and North America, Oliver Blanco, and the deputy minister for Multilateral Issues, Joaquín Pérez.
The World Food Forum, convened by FAO, is a strategic space for debate on transforming agro-food systems, mitigating climate impact on agricultural production, and guaranteeing peoples’ sovereign right to food.
“A country that managed to reach its zero hunger goal and then we had the whole process derived from the sanctions and today we are showing important progress with that objective again of returning to zero hunger in Venezuela,” Rodríguez detailed.
