ENVIRONMENTAL campaigners have slammed a council for backing plans for a toxic chemical plant near a primary school, despite an earlier warning that proposed new homes near a similar site could put residents’ safety at risk.
Cavendish Nuclear and Amentum (CNA) wants to build the facility at Port of Workington, Cumbria, to support the decommissioning of the Monju Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor, in Japan.
