Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs explains in a Friday press conference why he supports the student protests in France, saying that in the education system, there are “systemic inequalities and deep-rooted problems. I’m glad young people, high schoolers, and youth are making their voices heard.” Wembanyama also noted to reporters that their demands were personal for him, as someone who attended high school in Nanterre, which has been a central hub of student blockades and protests. France has been rocked by student protests for weeks, with youth calling out deteriorating infrastructure, teacher shortages, and cuts to public education.
