Starlink satellite internet service receives nationwide operating authorization in Venezuela.

The approval grants SpaceX’s satellite internet service nationwide operating rights under Venezuela’s regulatory framework.


Venezuela has authorized Starlink to provide satellite internet services nationwide, granting SpaceX VZ, S.C.A., a general operating license and seven concessions in the Ku band, according to an official announcement.

The authorization, issued under license HGTS-00639, allows Starlink to operate legally throughout Venezuela. The company must maintain a registered address in the country and comply with Venezuelan regulations, including national oversight and enforcement measures.

The government said the decision was intended to expand access to technology and promote digital inclusion while bringing Starlink’s operations under the country’s regulatory framework for radio spectrum management.

Starlink officially began operating in Venezuela on Feb. 3, according to the announcement.

The company also provided free internet access to people affected by a pair of earthquakes that struck the country on June 24. Access remained available in the affected states until July 25, the announcement said.

The authorization was granted under policies promoted by acting President Delcy Rodríguez, whose government has identified broader access to technology and communication as priorities in its digital inclusion agenda.
