I was recently discussing with my friends Rachel and Mark whether we thought music or football was more important to us. (All three of us love both.) They immediately said “music.” Because of my long involvement in the battle to save our football club, and the political and cultural as well as sporting impact of Brighton’s success, I started off thinking it was a hard choice, but not for long. Football is my passion but music, in all its multifarious glory, is my life as well as my living. Along with words, of course.
