Rodriguez emphasized that, at the proposal of Cuba and other countries, the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted, for the first time, a resolution calling for the cessation of measures contrary to international law that hinder children’s access to nutritious food.
According to the Cuban Foreign Minister, the international body determined that the blockade imposed on Cuba violates the right to food. He also maintained that U.S. policies continue to impact the well-being of children on the island.
The L.32 resolution, titled “Improving children’s equitable access to adequate and nutritious food,” urges states to avoid actions that limit children’s access to sufficient and quality food.
