The bid has the backing of the Spanish government and the Sport and Higher Sports Council.
On Wednesday, the Royal Spanish Rugby Federation (RFER) officially submitted its bid to host the 2035 Rugby World Cup under the slogan ‘Bridge the World,’ aiming to host the “most successful tournament” in the sport’s history.

The bid entered a new phase after submitting the required documentation to World Rugby, the sport’s international governing body. The project seeks to strengthen rugby’s presence in new markets and expand its reach among Spanish-speaking fans.
Among the proposal’s main arguments is the opportunity to bring the tournament closer to Europe by 2035, since the last Rugby World Cup on the continent would be the 2023 edition in France.
The Spanish federation emphasized that the bid has the backing of the Spanish Government through a declaration by the Council of Ministers, and is promoted by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and the CSD, the highest state sports authority.

The text reads, “The Spanish franchise Iberians pulls off the upset and defeats Cheetah in the Tbilisi Cup.”
Several autonomous communities with the potential to host matches also support the project, including Andalusia, the Basque Country, Castile and Leon, Catalonia, the Community of Madrid, and the Valencian Community.
The bid also has the backing of LaLiga, the organization that governs the main professional football competitions in Spain. The Federation believes that Spain’s experience in major sporting events, including hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, will allow it to leverage modern infrastructure and efficient transportation systems.
The federation’s president, Juan Carlos Martin “Hansen,” said that hosting the 2035 Rugby World Cup would provide a decisive boost to the sport’s growth in the country.
