Gen. Saree warns international airlines to suspend operations in Saudi airspace.

On Thursday, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Ansar Allah movement (Houthis), claimed a ballistic missile attack against King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

“He also called on all experts, engineers, and staff of Saudi oil facilities to refrain from being present at these facilities in order to protect their lives,” as reported by journalist Subodh Kumar.

Saree thus issued a “last warning” to international airlines to suspend their operations in Saudi airspace, considering that it has become a scenario of Houthi military operations, although he excluded from this warning the airspace over the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

The Houthi spokesperson stated that several ballistic missiles caused numerous dead and wounded and sparked fires in several Saudi weapons warehouses and other infrastructure in the Ras al Arah area.

Saree also assured that another missile attack against Saudi positions south of the Bab al Mandeb strait, in the Al Saqi and Ras al Arah areas, left “dozens dead and wounded.”

The Houthis claimed to have shot down a Turkish-made Bayraktar Akinci reconnaissance and attack drone, which was carrying out hostile operations over the Yemeni province of Taiz.

On Wednesday night, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that three people died and several were wounded in attacks against King Khalid and Abha airports.

General Turki al Maliki, the spokesperson of the Saudi-led military coalition, stated that Houthi attacks against his country “will not go unpunished.”

According to Al Maliki, the coalition forces destroyed 82 Houthi military targets in the provinces of Saada, Al Hodeida, Al Jawf and Marib, among them eleven ballistic missile warehouses, command centers, communications systems, and weapons depots.

The new escalation occurs after the advances announced this week by forces loyal to the Saudi-backed Yemeni government on the western coast of Yemen and in areas near Bab al Mandeb.
