Around 120,000 protestors took the streets of Barcelona Monday, calling for a general strike to stop evictions amid soaring rent costs. The demonstration took place just one day after Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez called for snap elections after failing to push housing reforms through Parliament. Spain has been rocked by protests over housing since late September, triggered by the forcible expulsion of 87-year-old Maricarmen Abascal from her Madrid apartment, which she had lived in for decades. The demonstration concluded with clashes with police, with 13 people arrested.
