So far, 73,000 health professionals have applied to be part of the federal government’s Primary Health Care Clinics initiative, reported the Undersecretary of Sectoral Integration and Development of the Secretariat of Health, Eduardo Clark, who said that the call for hiring will close in a little over ten days.

At the mañanera he said that the goal of this project is to have 12,750 points of care for non-serious illnesses in the 24 states where IMSS-Bienestar operates.

We are going to universalize this model of care, there will be no rejections, people will be treated regardless of their social security entitlement.

Currently, he said, the clinics are in the process of being fitted out and staff hired, and they are expected to begin operating starting in January.

In that regard, the federal head of state said that these health care spaces will be located both in cities and in the most remote places in the country.

“The idea is that if there is no serious illness, you go to the clinic, you would be treated free of charge and you will have your medicines, 60 basic medicines to be able to treat the main things. If the doctor realizes that greater care is needed, you will be referred to the hospital.”

Meanwhile, reporting on the progress of the Health House to House program, the head of the Secretariat of Well-being, Leticia Ramírez, indicated that more than 27 million home medical consultations have been provided to beneficiaries of the pensions for older adults and people with disabilities.

Of that total, 12,806,540 people have had a first visit, 8,305,567 two visits and 5,954,767 up to a third.

“This shows that it is not an isolated visit, it is accompaniment, follow-up and prevention.” To date, she said, 10,276,651 homes have been visited.

In that framework, the Undersecretary of Well-being, Jesús Salvador Valencia, said that through these visits of the Health House to House program, 568,800 patients with high blood pressure have been detected and referred to the IMSS for care, 117,000 more to IMSS-Bienestar, 161,000 to the ISSSTE and 5,600 to Pemex.

Likewise, 147,661 patients with diabetes were sent to the IMSS, 37,304 to IMSS-Bienestar, 40,559 to the ISSSTE and 557 to Pemex hospitals.
