On Tuesday, the Workers’ Central of Argentina (CTA), the Association of State Workers (ATE) and the Left and Workers’ Front – Unity (FIT-U) called for a march to the Palace of Justice in Buenos Aires to express their rejection of the loss of sovereignty over Argentine territory.

Previously, the Supreme Court of Justice upheld Decree 70/2023, through which far-right President Javier Milei repeals the Rural Lands Law and removes restrictions on the sale of rural properties to foreign buyers.
Citing procedural issues, Justices Horacio Rosatti, Ricardo Lorenzetti and Carlos Rosenkrantz overturned an injunction on the matter filed by the Malvinas Islands Veterans Center (CECIM).
The justices argued that CECIM lacked standing to challenge the presidential decree, although they clarified that they had not ruled on the constitutionality of Milei’s decree.

“By saying that sovereignty is not a right that citizens or their organizations can defend in court, the Supreme Court justices gave Milei’s administration a blank check to give away the national heritage by decree,” CTA Secretaries Hugo Yasky and Hugo Godoy said. They also reaffirmed their demand for impeachment proceedings against the Supreme Court justices.
During the “March of Outrage” held on Sept. 19, social organizations called for unifying the demands of various sectors ahead of the special session that the Chamber of Deputies will hold Oct. 15.
PTS/FIT-U lawmaker Myriam Bregman insisted on the need to bring citizen pressure to the legislative chamber and asked union leaders to organize a strike on Oct. 15. “It is essential that the union federations abandon their complicity and call for an active national strike that day,” she stressed.
