The TZ07 unit at the Rafael Urdaneta Thermal Power Complex is expected to supply electricity to 135,000 families.
Venezuela’s Termozulia thermal power complex has begun adding 150 megawatts (MW) to the national electricity system as authorities advance the rehabilitation of generating units in the western state of Zulia.

The National Electric Corporation (Corpoelec) has started testing unit TZ07 at the General Rafael Urdaneta Thermal Power Complex, known as Termozulia, as part of efforts to restore generation capacity and strengthen electricity supply across western Venezuela.
The reactivation of TZ07 is expected to benefit about 135,000 families, according to Juan Pérez, general manager of the complex. He said workers were focused on recovering generating units and keeping them in service.

Progressive rehabilitation of Termozulia
The work is part of a broader rehabilitation program aimed at stabilizing the National Electric System (SEN). During a field inspection led by Electricity Minister Rolando Alcalá, authorities reviewed recovery efforts on units TZ02, TZ05 and TZ07.
Termozulia currently has eight active work fronts covering its turbines and thermal generating units.
Four smaller auxiliary turbines at the Urdaneta plant are also undergoing work. With capacities of 20 MW and 25 MW, they are expected to add a further 90 MW to the regional grid once they are brought into operation.
Diomar Ríos, regional manager for the western axis, said the activation of TZ07 would add 150 MW to the electricity system serving western Venezuela.
Victoria Cabrera, the plant’s head of operations, said staff were working to increase generation capacity while maintaining system stability. She also highlighted the commitment of personnel involved in the rehabilitation effort.
The measures are part of a continuing plan to strengthen Venezuela’s thermal generation fleet and stabilize electricity service.
