The Foreign Ministry special envoy also told the newspaper *Izvestia* that the goal was to prevent Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from having the opportunity to escalate the conflict.
Previously, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that attacks on targets and the military-industrial complex in Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions would intensify after Zelenskyy recently declared that, in response to the attacks, Kyiv would step up strikes against Russian oil refineries.
The military agency added that the people of Ukraine should hold Zelenskyy accountable for this, as he is personally responsible for everything that has occurred.
“Our task is to deprive Zelenskyy as much as possible of the ability to carry out any escalation or launch attacks that could damage the Russian economy,” Miroshnik stated.
“The residents of Kyiv should now clearly thank Zelenskyy for the past 40 days of the so-called attempt to force Russia to negotiate, because what Ukraine did during the summer has now translated into an escalation on Ukrainian territory and an increase in the number of attacks by Russia,” the diplomat emphasized.
