CAMPAIGNERS are calling for an end to non-consensual adoptions as a new investigation shows the impacts on mothers, grandmothers and adoptees.

Support Not Separation (SNS) and the Disabled Mothers’ Rights Campaign have worked with the BBC to compile testimonies for the Fileon4 programme, airing on Tuesday, to raise awareness of the issues that lead to children being adopted.

About 90 per cent of adoptions in Britain are without parental consent, reports show, which the groups have called a “brutal and draconian abuse of power by the state.”

    Of course there will be cases of irredeemable parents, but most people are capable of change, and they should never lose full parental rights. The prospect of getting their child back might just be the motivation they need to get their life together, but take away their kid, and they might as well slide lower.
